This is something I need to learn:

Love yourself for who you are and what you believe in and go after what you really love. Celebrate and rejoice when you’ve done well and don’t beat yourself up so badly when you err or fail. The emotional distress that comes with failure has become so paralyzing that sometimes I’m not surprised that’s the very reason we spend all our energies to play safe and lie in “prevention modes”.

I think in this pressure cooker environment where we are so hard pressed to be an all-rounder, we hardly get around to appreciating ourselves enough. We all deserve more gentleness for ourselves, as we’ve been too tough on ourselves for really too long.

Take time off to unwind from the craziness. Do something you love and that will recharge you.

(By a SMU student.)

A friend of mine had this Facebook status.
Everyone hides things, facets of themselves they feel aren’t good enough, or things they can’t face.
What do you hide?
Think about it.
I guess I’ve hid things too well, for too long, sometimes I don’t even know what I’m hiding, or why.

I need to have some sort of discovery or change in my life. Mentally/ practically.

Just feels kind of stuck here. Nowhere else to go.

Maybe that’s why I still accepted the Sweden exchange programme even though I’d be going alone, even though I’ll be taking Masters modules there (and I’m still doubting my capabilities on that), even though it’s gonna be so freaking cold I can imagine how bad I’d be feeling, even though I’d be going away for a whole 6 months without my family or anyone I can rely on. Because I’m sure, after this 6 months, no matter how it turns out, I’m gonna get something out of it. Hopefully, there would be a lot of realizations, and I can finally understand myself a little better.

Anyway, it’s a year later so it’s too early to speak about anything much now.

Sadly, it’s inevitable.
